JAG Grant

There will be a public hearing for the review of the joint application for the 2009 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) adding a probation officer for the new truancy program, part-time position for Weed and Seed programs, overtime wages and program costs for a new Collision Avoidance Training program for youth and to purchase equipment for law enforcement purposes. The public hearing will be held Tuesday July 21, 2009 on the third floor in the City of Oklahoma City Council Chambers located at 200 N. Citizens Advisory Board

The Oklahoma City Police Department has a strong desire to maintain a partnership with the community in an effort to reduce crime and to enhance the quality of life.  These goals are best accomplished through positive and open communication and the development of public trust.  The Citizens Advisory Board facilitates interaction between the police department and a committee of citizens, representative of the various ethnic and cultural groups within our community.  To learn more about the Citizens Advisory Board, click here.


Get Free Gun Locks at Your Local OKC Police Station

The Oklahoma City Police Department is proud to partner with the Office of Juvenile Affairs in delivering an important message concerning gun safety.  Statistics show that children who have access to unsecured guns can sometimes be the victim of a tragic accident.  The proper storage and/or securing of a gun would greatly reduce such tragic incidents.  For a list of locations where a free gun lock can be obtained, click here.

Criminal Tracking and Victim Notification

OK VINE is a service that notifies crime victims if an inmate is released, transferred, escapes or dies.  It is accessible in English and Spanish.  Registration for this service is free and anonymous.    To register visit www.vinelink.com and follow the instructions.  OK Vine is a service provided by the Oklahoma Office of the State Attorney General.  For more information concerning this service, contact Jennifer Taylor at 405.522.2294.


The Citizen Alert Program allows the Oklahoma City Police Department to periodically send Crime Alerts, News Releases and Safety Advisories to subscribers, via email and text messaging devices, helping us keep the public advised of situations and events occurring in our city.  The service is free and sign-up is easy.  Click here to be taken to the website and simply follow the sign-up instructions.  Citizen Alert is a great way to stay informed about issues concerning our community and the Oklahoma City Police Department.
