Oklahoma City Crime Stoppers was organized in July 1979 so the citizens would have a way to give information to the police department, remain anonymous and receive a reward.  Since then over 5,000 criminals have gone to jail as a result of anonymous tips received on the Crime Stoppers Hot Line.  We are funded by citizens who make tax deductible donations to the reward fund.  No tax payer dollars are used to pay rewards, and management of the programs is done entirely by unpaid volunteers.

   Crimes are reported on television, radio and newspapers.  This publicity has led Oklahoma City Crime Stoppers to gain top status among the organizations across the United States with over 8,500 crimes cleared and over $500,000 paid out in rewards, and 150,000 phone calls have been received.  Since inception over $12.5 million in property has been recovered and returned to citizens and over $8.5 million in drugs seized, and removed from the streets of Oklahoma City.

   Killers, drug dealers, armed robbers, rapists and burglars - Crime Stoppers paid rewards for the information that helped identify or catch them, and in the cases referred to police by the Crime Stoppers Hot Line - 99% of the arrested suspects were convicted or entered guilty pleas.  All thanks go out to the anonymous callers giving Crime Stoppers the leads!
